Welcome to the Xennial Mom!
I started this blog to give voice to topics important to the newly defined microgeneration, the Xennials (pronounced ZEN-ee-uh-ls).
Back in 2014, while researching the perks and downsides of generational identity, Australian writer, Sarah Stainkorb, stumbled upon this micro-generation while trying to pinpoint the forgotten middle children between Generation X and Millennials. X + Millennial = Xennial.
As a Xennial, you remember a time before the internet and are nostalgic about your analog childhood, but your adult life is pretty tech-centered…. and you would be absolutely lost out without it.
We are in the season of our lives where we may be having difficult conversations with our aging parents about long-term care and insurance, while at the same time also figuring out 529 and college savings plans for our children. The media tells us almost weekly that everything is slowly killing us, yet we continue to seek out ways to maintain a healthy lifestyle and establish self-care routines. So many of the issues we face are not being discussed because so much of the conversation is centered around the issues facing Millenials and Gen Xers.
That’s what led me to start The Xennial Mom. I will attempt to be one voice for our microgeneration, especially as it relates to faith, child-rearing, finances, and self-care, just for starters.
Additionally, I will share advice and stories to help us navigate this awesome season of our lives.
Welcome, I am so honored to have you along for the journey.
